Flight-validated control software for unsurpassed flight fidelity
Patented linear force control loading
Full-size piston, twin-engine cockpit with GPS
Comprehensive training: Software including more than 100 malfunctions, snapshot, Slew and reposition capability, various ambient lighting and weather condition
Students being introduced to multi-engine or high performance single-engine aircraft will receive the finest ground-based training available in the Hawk FTD. Within its market segment and price range, only the Hawk FTD offers flight-validated software for the most realistic and most valuable training experience. The Hawk offers a generic multi-engine panel that can be converted in minutes to a single engine configuration with the substitution of a different throttle quadrant. Doing so automatically signals the FTD's software to convert to single-engine performance properties. Handling qualities and instrument indications of the Hawk trainer are derived from extensive flight test data acquired in Piper Seminole aircraft, the leading multi-engine trainer in use today. The Hawk faithfully replicates flight characteristics of the Seminole and provides control responses and indications typical of all other light twins. It is therefore the ideal training device for initial multi-engine training, as well as proficiency and recurrent training.
When used in the single-engine configuration, students will find the Hawk's performance, handling characteristics and readouts quite typical of complex, high-performance, single-engine aircraft.
The basic Hawk package includes an exceptionally realistic, color, pilot-side visual system, upgradeable to full wrap-around field of vision. With FOV displays up to 180 degrees, students receive the peripheral cues of actual flight. The Hawk FTD is a highly modular system, allowing you to customize the training device with numerous optional features, or to upgrade your system as training needs evolve. The Hawk meets all requirements for an FAA AATD Level 3 and 7.7,4A FNPTII multi-engine flight training device.

Flight validated control software for unsurpassed flight fidelity
Patented linear force control Loading
Full-size turboprop twin engine cockpit with full IFR panel and GPS
Pilot and copilot controls and instruments
Comprehensive training software including more than 100 malfunctions, snapshot, slew and reposition capability, various ambient lighting and weather conditions
The PHOENIX SERIES provides the most realistic flight experience in a Level 3 turboprop FTD. Flight-validated software from Kohlman Systems Research provides a faithful replication of the handling, instrument and visual indications of a real twin turboprop. Our own patented linear control loading system provides students with precise and accurate control feedback. Our aerodynamic model is derived from extensive flight tests in Beech 1900 commuter aircraft. The Turbo-Hawk will facilitate the transition to almost any turboprop aircraft. The Turbo-Hawk is the ideal training device for advanced student training, as well as for initial and recurrent training for commuter airlines and charter operators. For commercial aircraft operators, a Turbo-Hawk FTD can reduce training costs and risks associated with using an actual aircraft for training. It provides an exceptional environment for cockpit resource management training and for developing situational awareness skills. The Turbo-Hawk will accelerate the training and certification of new pilots and help maintain the emergency procedure skills of line pilots. The basic Turbo-Hawk package includes an exceptionally realistic 110-degree monitor or projected color visual system, upgradeable to full wrap-around 180-degree FOV. The Turbo-Hawk is highly modular, giving you the ability to customize your system with numerous options, or to upgrade your system as training needs evolve. The Turbo-Hawk meets all requirements for an FAA Level 3/JAA FNPTII flight training device.

AST also proudly announces its New "Glass Cockpit Professional CRJ Jet Trainer" which offers the latest innovation and technology available in fully digital, software driven glass cockpit training device. The Glass Cockpit Professional Jet Trainer can be specifically tailored to the needs of the operator by incorporating specific details of the most popular Regional Aircraft in the industry. This unsurpassed value places Glass Cockpit technology in an affordable device to accommodate greater flexibility and capability for the operator while maintaining the maximum cost effective return.
AST produces model-specific FTDs certified up to Level 6 that fully replicate all cockpit systems as well as the flight dynamics of individual models of aircraft. Our CPTs and CBTs also fully replicate all cockpit systems for the highest level of accuracy when conducting procedural training. Switches, gauges, circuit breakers, flight controls and other cockpit systems are all exact reproductions of the specific aircraft model ordered.
AST currently offers a Level 6, model-specific FTD for the Cessna Caravan, as well as a wide range of multi-engine aircraft, including the Gulfstream III, Falcon 20, Westwind, Beech Baron, King Air C90A, 1900, 200, Piper Cheyenne ILIA, Piper Seminole, Piper Seneca and others. We can build a model-specific FTD for any aircraft, as we have on a custom basis for NASA and the U.S. Air Force. If your training requirements call for a model-specific FTD, we are happy to discuss how we can establish a fast-track development program to meet your needs.

Leading Edge Flight Test Technology
Flight test validated software from Kohlman Systems
Bring the real world into the simulator
Our FTD software, developed in collaboration with Kohlman Systems Research (which also develops software packages for the leading manufacturers of Level D, full-motion simulators), provides precise and accurate response in every phase of flight. Our patented linear force control loading system provides highly realistic
control feedback. Students therefore move seamlessly from FTD to aircraft and back again without confronting a significantly different set of handling sensations. True flight data from KS allows for realism typically found only in full-motion simulators. AST flight training devices respond to changes in pitch, power and bank angle just as a real aircraft would.

Visual systems are superior to those of the leading competitor, putting the real world just beyond the glare shield. This is true of our basic color system for pilot forward visuals, as well as optional wrap-around systems that provide visual cues for landing, runway incursions, and circling approaches in full daylight, twilight and night conditions. Such a broad field of vision, coupled with dual systems for pilot and copilot, provide an unsurpassed environment for cockpit resource management training and the development of situational awareness skills. Jeppesen U.S. and optional worldwide databases provide thousands of approaches. Generic airports can be supplemented with a long list of custom airports, to which we are constantly adding. For those with highly specialized requirements, we can custom design a database with the airways, airports and approaches you need.
AST offers Full Motion on all its Flight Training Devices and it is now more affordable than ever. Your new AST device may have up to 6 Degrees Freedom of Movement from either Electric or Hydraulic Motion systems. This will make your simulation very realistic and students will be eager to sign up.

These fully digital AATD or FTDs include PC-based, point-and-click instructor stations with numerous lighting and weather variables, as well as more than 100 programmed malfunction simulations.
Flight training devices from AST are designed not only for the most realistic training experience, but the most flexibility and productivity for the training organization. Electronic components and circuit boards are designed for easy access and replacement. All AATD and FTDs are assembled in modular fashion for easy assembly and so that all modular components can fit through a 36 inch doorway, allowing installation of an AST training device almost anywhere
As the second century of flight begins, EADI/EHSI Displays will be the primary technology in the modern cockpit. EFIS will be in all categories of aircraft from the largest airliner to smallest single engine aircraft. AST has developed its own simulated EFIS Technology that can be customized to emulate major brands such as Entegra, Garmin, Honeywell and Rockwell Collins. You can give students an opportunity to know the confidence of having mastered this technology and ease the transition to a newer aircraft.
No two training organizations have quite the same needs. That is why we offer a wide array of optional equipment. Whether your objective is to match cockpit navigation systems to those in your training fleet, or to provide an upgraded visual system in order to provide the most realistic situational awareness training, we will tailor your AATD or FTD to meet your precise requirements. Offering a well-equipped basic model with a multitude of options also allows you to configure a system to meet your cost objectives.
